Kim’s art is as vibrant and expressive as her joyful personality. She especially enjoys making abstract paintings that explore mark making techniques and layering colors reminiscent of abstract expressionist and color field painters such as Mark Rothco and Helen Frankenthaler. Although she works quickly, she will spend weeks on one painting as she lets it dry between layers creating a wondrous effect. Kim explores similar layering techniques when making abstract embroidered wall hangings that include layers of embroidery thread, often featuring her favorite color, blue. However, no matter what the medium, the artwork is as jubilant and engaging as the artist herself.
